La Guajira is Colombia's most northern point. Largely made up of desert, this region stretches as far as the Venezuelan border and is lined with stunning beaches that overlook the Caribbean.

My suggestion
Being hard to reach, La Guajira is well off the beaten track. Don't be put off by the journey; it would be a real shame to miss out this little piece of paradise.
Whether it's misty or sunny, you'll love the unusual landscape in the Cocora Valley. The enchanting ambiance and the sheer number of wax palms, a national symbol, are impressive, to say the least!
