With more than 1,000 km of Baltic coast, the least you can say is that Sweden does not lack access to the sea, The extremely rugged coast looks a bit like that of its neighbour, Norway, with indentations, fjords, bays, lakes and archipelagoes which are the result of glacial activity in the region. Although the often cold climate doesn't make seaside tourism one of Sweden's better known charms, I really strongly recommend you visit one of the archipelagoes that make up the Baltic coast, whether it be Stockholm or Gothenburg, to see the thousands of barren islands scattered over the sea for as far as the eye can see. In my opinion it's the pearl of the Swedish coast and should definitely form part of your <a href="/sweden/">itinerary during a trip to Sweden</a>.
