The little village of Dovan lies at an altitude of 2,500 metres and serves as one of the stops on the long trail leading to Annapurna Base Camp.

Once past Bamboo, the trail gently gains height, taking you from 2,350 to 2,500 metres of altitude. The landscape is still very wooded at this point, and along the way you pass through hordes of rhododendrons in which a number of different orchid species can be seen; and, as you've no doubt already gathered … bamboo. With a bit of luck you'll also get to see monkeys, shrieking and leaping from branch to branch.
 Next, once past Dovan, the trail again climbs a little further: the next stop, Himalaya, lies at an altitude of 2,900 metres. You'll pass some beautiful and very high waterfalls along the way, as well as a little temple dedicated to the god Baraha. There can also be a risk of avalanches from this point forward. If you do the trek in the snow, ask the guides which are the safest paths to take.
