Quetena is a volcano located in the vicinity of the tiny town of Quetena Chico in Bolivia's Sud Lipez Province, which lies in the country's Potosi region.

The Quetana Volcano is located close to the Chilean border in Bolivia's Potosi region. At 18,794 ft high, the Quetena volcano stands dominating the landscape around the tiny town of Quetena Chico.
This small hamlet, part of the municipality of San Pablo de Lipez, stands on the edge of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. The town's 800 inhabitants live mainly from agriculture, livestock and tourism.
Visiting this charming little place, with its adobe houses, gave me the chance to see and explore Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde, two lakes located a few tens of miles from Quetana Chico. These sites are both equally spectacular, and I found the scenery at them absolutely stunning. It's not without reason that Sur Lipez is famous for being one of Bolivia's most beautiful regions.
