Elafonisi is one of the most beautiful Cretan beaches. A magnificent beauty spot, which I advise you to visit. I loved its warm, azure blue water, a true lagoon, the pink of the sand on the beach at Elafonisi and the endless horizon of the sea! A most magical destination and an experience not to be missed during your <a href="/crete/">trip to Crete</a>! 
I enjoyed the richness of Elafonisi: a sort of wild and tropical little paradise, far behind the steep mountains and rustic hamlets. Nature lovers will love the low dunes and the isolated creeks of Elafonisi. As for lovers of sporting trips, they'll delight in Elafonisi's windsurfing spot. 
This long ribbon of sand attracts crowds in the high summer season. In summer, it's often preferable to wait until the end of the afternoon to avoid the surge of tourists. To enjoy the wait, I recommend you try the local culinary specialities on the terraces of the surrounding restaurants.
