The town of Suncheon is renowned for its natural heritage. Suncheonman Bay is one of the biggest marsh areas in the world and covers over forty kilometres. The water is very pure because it is filtered by the reeds that stretch as far as the eye can see. Many animals live there, including insects and crabs but also many migratory birds. It is really worth the hour's walk it takes to get a view of the bay from Yongsan observatory.
The gardens around the bay were an opportunity for me to discover a dozen different types of garden, including English, Chinese and Dutch gardens. The various varieties of flowers bloom at different periods throughout the year.
If you're a fan of Korean cinema, go for a tour of the Suncheon film sets, where you can discover the sets of Korean cities from the 1950s to 1970s.
