Everything is centred around Khuzhir, the main village. There are numerous excursions by marshrutka to see the main points of the Island. Don't miss Cape Khoboy, on the northern point of the Island, looking over Lake Baikal.
Olkhon Island is paradise if you like camping in the wild because there is little vegetation and not much rain. Going out alone, walking and camping in the steppe in complete freedom, was a real pleasure for me. The immensity of the steppe together with Lake Baikal - it speaks for itself. You can also go canoeing, mountain biking or horse riding.
We were warmly welcomed in the villages and they gave us water, but be careful, I was ill. Take precautions and always treat the water, even if it has already been treated.
