During my Rwanda trip , I explored Virunga Park so I could take a look at the last silverback gorillas. It all starts with a meeting at the Park rangers' headquarters, where we attend songs and traditional dances over coffee. Visitors are divided into several groups according to the gorilla families they will be encountering. The rangers explain both clearly and entertainingly the behaviour you will need to adopt when confronting the gorillas.
That was a unique experience! We walked for several miles in a green and wild setting before encountering a family of mountain gorillas. Accompanied by guides and soldiers, we were able to watch them from just a few yards away for over an hour. It was very impressive!
There are other walks in the park you can discover including Mount Bisoke. A trek lasting several hours on the occasionally abrupt slopes of the Mount with a magnificent reward at the end: an extraordinary panorama on the Park and a lake in the volcano's crater.
