The Shwesandaw pagoda, a huge white building among its ochre sisters, is the tallest of the pagodas of Bagan. It is also the most majestic in my opinion. Its spire rises to over 60 metres and the view from the top is breathtaking.
Once again, visits at dawn and dusk are recommended. I will never forget the view over the plain, where the many pagodas of the region stand proudly among the fields and groves of trees. In the morning, you will enjoy the solitude and the rest of the night lighting, whereas in the evening, the sunset takes the leading role. After your visit, I recommend you head toward the Dhammayangyi temple, which is not far away and is also worth a visit. It is one of the most beautiful pagoda complexes that you will see during your discovery of Burma.
