An update from Evaneos

Southern Thailand and its idyllic islands

From Ranong and as far as Satun in the extreme south of Thailand, visitors can choose between a number of superb islands, and I invite you to discover three of these idyllic destinations!

Imagine a few coconut trees, little bamboo huts, crystal-clear waters, and brightly colored fish... escape to the Thai islands. Nothing special to do other than spend hours splashing in the water, explore the seabed, and admire the sunset while enjoying some tasty local food.

Ko Phayam: escape off the beaten track

Take a few days to discover the peaceful island of Ko Phayam, just thirty kilometers or so from Ranong. This island, ten kilometers long and five kilometers wide, is an ideal destination off the beaten track during a stay in Thailand. Long beaches with fine sand, few tourists, narrow roads traveled only by scooters: in short an idyllic backdrop as you relax and enjoy. Unfortunately, Ko Phayam also means a bunch of little bugs, so make check your room before settling down for the night if you don't want to spend the night with a family of cockroaches, as I did!

Ko Kradan: a seabed of exceptional beauty

Snorkeling enthusiasts: no matter what, don't miss out on the tiny island of Ko Kradan, which can be reached from Trang! Here, there's no need for diving gear: just a mask and a snorkel are more than enough to discover thousands of fish and spectacular coral reefs just a few meters offshore. You quickly lose all sense of the passage of time and spend hours admiring the stunning life on the seabed. It's my favorite location for snorkeling ever: I even prefer it to Fiji!

Not only that, you get huge, white sandy beaches, crystal-clear water, hardly any people, a short walk to admire the sunset: in short, Ko Kradan is a paradise island. The only slight flaw is that the island lacks authenticity (there are no villages on the island) and accommodation and restaurants are quite expensive compared to others in the country.

Ko Lipe, a little corner of paradise

Deep in the heart of the Ko Tarutao National Marine Park, the small island of Ko Lipe is Thailand's most southerly island and is just a stone's throw away from Malaysia. With its dreamy beaches and the beauty of its seabed, Ko Lipe will delight lovers of idyllic beaches, who can spend hours in its crystal-clear waters before going to admire a stunning sunset from the aptly named Sunset Beach.
