Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania

Today following your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you shall be collected and transferred to Moshi where you can get some well deserved rest at the Ameg Lodge.

Day 2: Visit to Kahawa Shamba Coffee Plantation

Today after breakfast we will pick you up from your lodge and drive you to the nearby Kahawa Shamba in Rau. Coffee was one of Tanzania's major exports of. Whilst this has lessened, coffee growing is still widespread across the region. Spend the day at the farm and enjoy a traditional hot Swahili lunch at the end of this tour. 


Coffee Tour : :  This trip will provide you with the opportunity to meet with local coffee growers, learn about the history whilst experiencing the process involved in making your own cup of coffee, i.e. the picking, roasting and grinding of the beans.

Day 3: Meet the local Maasai tribe

On this day in the morning depart for a 2 hour drive to West Kilimanjaro where you will spend the day and night at the unique Africa Amini Maasai Lodge. This lodge offers an excellent balance between excellent accommodation and integration with the community. There shall be multiple opportunities to learn about the Maasai tribe and their unique way of life as a real-life example of modern day nomadic pastoralist livelihood. 


Spear throwing competition : Traditional spear throwing competitions are deeply rooted in the Maasai's culture. They were not only a means for Maasai warriors to compete with each other, but also served as training for hunting lions. Nowadays, the lions are protected and the Maasai don't hunt them anymore. Spear throwing competitions are now merely an athletic event. Try your luck and mess with the best of the best! 


Nature Walk with the Maasai : Accompanied by a Maasai shaman you will have the chance to discover the surrounding areas. Meet the locals of Ngabobo who will share their extensive knowledge of herbs and medicinal plants and introduce you to the Maasai's culture unchanged for centuries. In close proximity to the lodge you will have the chance to pick these medicinal plants yourself and might even prepare your own tea with it. It will be a very special teatime both to you and the Maasai. 

Donkey Ride with the Maasai : Why not try a ride on the back of a donkey at sunrise? It's the best way to enjoy the serenity of the savannah and the beautiful view of Kilimanjaro. With a bit of luck, you might even experience the early morning hustle and bustle of the African savannah.

Day 4: Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway

Today you will continue your safari and drive further West into Lake Manyara National Park. When approaching the Lake from the east, the Rift Valley escarpment lays the horizon, forming an impressive back drop to the lake. In the tall trees of the ground water forest, monkeys leap from branch to branch, on the escarpment elephants stand in the shade. 


Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway : This 370m treetop walkway starts with a short board-walk that gradually rises from ground level up through the canopy of the forest. You walk over a series of suspension bridges with thick netting on the sides, and reach a height of 18m off the ground. Each of the bridges end on a viewing deck situated around tree trunks. These treetop platforms are perfect places to stop and enjoy life in the canopy amongst butterflies, monkeys and birds. 

Short game drive in Lake Manyara National Park: In the afternoon enjoy short game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. This is also the best time to view animals in this park. Animals frequently seen in Lake Manyara National Park include zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, warthogs among many others.

Day 5: Game viewing in the famous Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will be driven down into Ngorongoro Crater and enjoy a half day game drive. The Ngongorongoro Crater is located with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a more than 8,000 sqm large protected area and World Heriatge Site. 


Drive in Ngorongoro Crater : The Crater is undoubtedly one of the best places to see the rare black rhino in Africa, not to mention the prides of lion and the magnificent black-mane lions. There are lots of colourful flamingos and the variety of water birds. In the crater you are also likely to see leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, many members of the antelope family, and small mammals of all sorts. Enjoy a half day game drive in the crater. 

Ngorongoro Crater Rim Walk : Walking along the rim of the famous Ngorongoro Crater will allow for great views of the crater floor as well as great chances for encounters with wildlife. The track takes you through thick forests following the contours of the Ngorongoro Crater rim with stunning views of the crater floor below. You walk on an easy animal trail and may encounter local Masaai with cattle.

Days 6 to 7: Game viewing in Serengeti National Park

Today continue your journey into the amazing Serengeti National Park for the African Safari experience. It has the amazing landscape that earned it the Maasai name Serengeti – Endless Plains.   


Game drive in Serengeti National Park : In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the Serengeti. Again this is a great time to view game – particularly the carnivores as this is their favorite time to hunt. Frequently spotted in Serengeti National Park are huge prides of lions, herds of grazers, as well as cheetahs and leopards, but also provides astonishing views.

Day 8: Onward journey to Zanzibar

Today you will fly from Serengeti National Park to Zanzibar Island. Following your arrival at Zanzibar Airport you shall be collected and transferred to Nungwi at the most northern tip of the Spice Island.

Days 9 to 10: Relaxing at Nungwi Beach

Enjoy the following two days at one of Zanzibar’s most beautiful white sandy beaches. The perfect spot for a couple of relaxing days after an adventurous time on mainland Zanzibar.

Day 11: Time to say goodbye!

Today we will ensure that you make it to Zanzibar Airport on time for your international flight. Until we meet again.
