Following your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport at 12:55pm you shall be collected by our driver and transferred to the Honey Badger Lodge where you will stay the night.
Today you will have time to relax from your long international flight. Simply lie by the pool side or enjoy a few cold drinks in the lounge area of the lodge. You can also opt to explore the surrounding area by taking a walk through the village in which the lodge is located. Overnight at the Honey Badger Lodge.
Today we will take you on a day trip to the waterfalls of Mt Kilimanjaro. Set in the foot hills of the mighty Kilimanjaro these waterfalls provide a relaxing day trip that enable you to see more of the countryside whilst also stretching your legs as you walk to the waterfall. You can cool down by swimming in the refreshing pools and enjoy a packed lunch sitting by the waters. In the afternoon we will drive you back to the Honey Badger Lodge for another overnight stay.
After breakfast, your driver-guide will collect you, and your safari will commence. You will drive from Moshi to Manyara National Park. This takes approximately 4 hours depending on the traffic in Arusha. After enjoying a picnic lunch, you will go on the first game-drive of your safari and in this park; the afternoon is the best time to view animals. Frequently seen in Lake Manyara National Park are zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, warthogs among many others. Before dark you shall return to the Fanaka Campsite where you will stay the night.
Drive to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will have time to take a break as you pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to enjoy the stunning view of the famous Ngorongoro Crater and its surrounding highlands. In the afternoon you will continue your journey to the Serengeti National Park. It has the amazing landscape that earned it the Maasai name Serengeti – Endless Plains. In the evening, enjoy a game drive in the Serengeti. Again this is a great time to view game – particularly the carnivores as this is their favourite time to hunt. Before dark you shall return to the Seronera Campsite for dinner and overnight stay. The following day you will have plenty of time to explore the Serengeti in depth during a full day game drive. After breakfast, begin your day with a morning game drive in the Serengeti and then later in the afternoon drive back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Once at the crater’s rim get some rest and dinner at the Simba Campsite where you will spend the night.
After breakfast, you will descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a half day game drive inside the crater. This is undoubtedly one of the best places to see the rare black rhino in Africa, not to mention the prides of lion that includes the magnificent black maned males. There are lots of colourful flamingos and the variety of water birds. In the crater you are also likely to see leopards, cheetahs, hyenas many members of the antelope family, and small mammals of all sorts.
Following an excellent game drive in the Crater we shall begin to make our way toward Nainokanoka Ranger Post Camp where we will be spending the night. After arriving at the camp and putting our gear down and having a little rest and refreshment, we will begin our half day hiking excursion to Olmoti Crater and the stunning Munge Falls. There are many opportunities to interact with the local Maasai tribesmen on this hike, particularly at the crater itself.
After breakfast we shall drive to the Maasai village of Bulati where we begin the hike towards Empakaai Crater. This truly is an exceptional location first simply for the beauty of the terrain and secondly for the opportunity to see the variety of wildlife and birdlife that this place has to offer. Also often seen at the Crater Lake are the brightly colored lesser flamingos. You will camp overnight at the crater’s rim.
After breakfast you will leave the Ngorongoro Conservation Area again and head towards the small village of Mto Wa Mbu. This culturally diverse village is a great place to buy souvenirs for your friends and family at home. You can also opt to take part in some cultural activities, go for a bike ride or a forest hike. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Moshi where you will get some rest at the Honey Badger Lodge.
