Discover Peru in all its splendour

With its breathtaking landscapes and unique cultural heritage, where sanctity and mystery merge, Peru is, in my opinion, THE place to visit in Latin America. Here are some works on Peru that you should read before visiting this beautiful country.

Books to read

Paracas Art and Architecture University of Iowa Press As the foreward says, 'Paracas is the grandfather of all Peruvian archaeological sites and still the greatest treasure trove of textile art we have from antiquity.' This is an interdisciplinary collection of current Peruvian research in one fascinating book. Even before you embark on a tour of Peru, you'll be aware of the country's textile art, classifed by UNESCO under the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity category.

Peru's Cordilleras Blanca & Huayhuash: The Hiking & Biking Guide by Neil and Harriet Pike Trailblazer Books Peru is about the Inca Civilisation, with mysterious cities, often lost or perched high up in the Andean Cordilleras. This guide will take you through the hikes and bike tours in search of Peru's indigenous culture, be it remnants from the past or communties that still thrive today. A photographic dream!

'Che - the Argentine' is the first of a two-part biopic by Steven Soderbergh that won multiple awards including Best Actor in Cannes for Benicio del Toro. Follow Che Guevara as he crosses the Andes by motorbike as a youth. The Peruvian landscape speaks for itself!
