We spent nearly a month traveling from Queenstown to Auckland, switching from coast to coast. Every accommodation was exceptional and nearly every host enriched our experience by introducing us to friends in the local community, as well as to other guests. We took boat trips, helicopter trips, train rides, explored caves and vineyards, and wandered in lovely cities. We never had a bad meal or met with an unpleasant experience. Thank you to our trip planners and to New Zealand!
The best parts:
This trip was designed for our interests and still had flexibility so we could change our minds on the fly. The best part was that every single thing went flawlessly! Every driver on time, every reservation in place, every guide knowledgeable and helpful. We were amazed at how it all came together. We appreciated that Amanda came up with options we could never have found on our own--the day we spent with Cam from *** Tours was a good example.
The worst parts:
We had to leave New Zealand.

New Zealand has been on my bucket list for years. It’s attraction was due to the many stories of love from friends who either lived or visited New Zealand. After purchasing two Lonely Planet books, reading many traveling accounts and the many places of attractions on both islands I felt overwhelmed. I happened upon the organization Evanos, that plans trips according to your wishes and lifestyle and they put me in touch with Amanda, our local agent, a New Zealander herself. We passed on our wishes and she put together an amazing itinerary. We went for 5 weeks (I recommend 6,7). We covered a lot of both islands, but mostly in the south, which suited us fine. To choose one highlight is very difficult. From the quiet of the Catlins to the beauty of the coast to the majesty of the mountains to the incredible walking paths (so well maintained and designed) to the friendly people. They all stand out! We would really recommend this amazing country and the local agency for first timers and extended stays. One stay that really stands out was our 4 night stay at Ruby Bay, Nelson. Outstanding! We even picked pears in an orchard for half a day. I do recommend some extended stays in certain areas. Abel Tasman would be one.
The best parts:
Really, most everything! All of New Zealand was a highlight to us! It’s diversity of landscape: mountains, rolling hills, gorgeous coast line, pastures in between, beautiful coloured lakes, vineyards, orchards, white & golden (often empy) beaches, lovely wine, warm friendly hospitable people, the peaceful of the rural areas, sheep & cows grazing outdoors, the seemingly active lifestyle.
The worst parts:
Hmmmm, not many. If I had to choose: the business of the cities, the roadkill and the sandflies. Also we found New Zealand very expensive.

We have always wanted to visit New Zealand but we’re unsure about how to plan itinerary so it was brilliant to use a local agency for this purpose and prebook accommodation and activities. It was a very busy itinerary but necessary to see what we wanted to in time available in 2 weeks South Island and one week on North Island.
The best parts:
Scenery amazing and prebooked trips and excursions excellent. Home stays and most other accommodation good.
The worst parts:
Some of the motel accommodation of a standard below expected.

In approx 24 days we went from Auckland, up to Pahia/Russel and then all the way down to Doubtful Sound stopping at various places on the way for a night here and two there.... We loved the scenery and how friendly everyone was. Highlights had to be the light aircraft - whale watching in Kaikoura and the scenic flights over the volcanoes in Tongariro but the helicopter trip over the Franz Joseph, Fox and Tasman Glaciers was just out of this world!!! All the hotels were wonderful and exactly what we asked for. All in all a perfect trip - didn't want to come home! Thank you Carolyn!!!
The best parts:
We loved everything about the trip. It was nice to be met at the airport rather than having to find our own way into town and to be taken to the car rental depot with our luggage. What was amazing was to be able to travel through both the North and South Islands of New Zealand taking in the beautiful scenery and fresh air.
The worst parts:
The only downside was purely of our own doing - not having enough time to really see everything. Having 2 nights in each place was great but occasionally we need 2 nights when we only had 1. Or even having 2 nights and still wanting more!! We'll just have to come back and do some of it again....

Trip was excellent - car hire was good - and scenery to die for. Apart from Christchurch which should not be used as a tourist destination until it is rebuilt
The best parts:
The scenery in New Zealand is incredible and well worth the long trip. Kiwis are very friendly people
The worst parts:
The accommodation we were provided with fell short on several occasions and, the last accommodation turned out to be, literally, a shed on stilts with a toilet attached and just enough room for a bed - no television, wardrobe etc. Backpackers accommodation really - entirely unsuitable and totally misrepresented in our itinirary
