It is the fourth largest city in Morocco and lies near the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains. Check-in at your accommodation and relax before you decide to visit the Djemaa-el-Fna square if you still have time which bustles with acrobats, story-tellers, water sellers, dancers, and musicians. In the evening the square transforms into a huge open-air restaurant with smoke rising from the many food stalls.
After you check-in into your accommodation, later in the afternoon, it is time for an authentic Moroccan experience. A hammam will be scheduled for you to relax and to enjoy your massage session with Argan oil!
Meet your local guide for a 3 hours tour at 09:00 AM. Discover some of the most important historical sites, and the old medina and souks of Marrakech. You'll visit the Bahia Palace, and Saadien Tombs, Koutoubia Mosque (from outside), the famous square Djemaa El Fna and parts of the medina and souks. This tour will be done on foot, since most of the medina is closed to traffic. Entrance Fees are not included.
The city is divided into three distinct parts: the Medina which is the historical city surrounded by walls; the European modern district called Guéliz or Ville Nouvelle and the new residential area known as Hivernage.
In the evening, it is time to enjoy the Moroccan gastronomy. A Moroccan dinner is scheduled for you at the heart of the Medina to try the most authentic Moroccan meals while listening to Moroccan music.
Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, is situated on the Atlantic Coast. An eighteenth-century town, enclosed by medieval-looking battlements, facing a cluster of rocky offshore islands. Check in at your Riad and relax. The medina of Essaouira is UNESCO World Heritage-listed; by walking inside the medina you would notice beautifully whitewashed and blue-shuttered houses and colonnades. The small fishing harbor remains functional today.
Once you meet your local guide at your accommodation who is going to take on a unique (3 hours) tour privately; you have the chance to explore the medina and its fortified walls, narrow alleyways, the sound of drums and Gnaoua singing from shops and houses. Then, the fishing harbor just as it was, the thuya wood crafts and the town have a flourishing art scene and naif paintings. Visit the Skala, known by its rows of gigantic cannons that faces out to the Atlantic ocean, visit the jewelry district and discover Moroccan craft shops in the medina.
This morning, a private vehicle will pick you up at your accommodation in Essaouira and drive you back to Marrakech for your last night!
Food is an interesting part of your journey today, you are going to enjoy a tasty cooking class. Bring back home some of the best recipes of traditional Moroccan cuisine! Let’s do together some shopping for fresh food and vegetables at the local souk, discovering ingredients and spices. Back to the riad, you will cook with your chef a full traditional Moroccan meal: starters, main course, dessert and why not other delicious homemade choices.
