Day 1: Welcome to Japan!

Arrival in Tokyo...

Pick up your JR Pass and Hokuriku Pass from the airport post office and exchange them at the JR ticket counter

• Take the Narita Airport Liner to your accommodation in central Tokyo

Spend the day exploring Tokyo and getting accustomed to your surrounding area

• In the evening, go for a relaxing soak in an onsen (Japanese hot spring)!

Day 2: Explore modern Tokyo

• Using your JR pass, take the local trains to explore the modern sights of Tokyo city

• Start your day off with a stroll through the Akihabara neighborhood, known as Tokyo's electric town

• Spend some time in Animate and Yodobashi Camera, some of the biggest stores in Japan

Visit the beautiful Teamlab Museum in Odaiba

• Head to Shinjuku for a Mario Kart night tour of the city

Day 3: Dive into Traditional Tokyo

• Meet your guide for an exclusive tour of the Tsukiji Fishmarket

Sample sushi and other local foods

• Take the local trains to Asakusa, home of the giant Sensoji temple to send off a prayer of good luck and good fortune

Rent a Kimono for the day and stroll the backstreets as the locals do

Day 4: Volcanic city of Hakone

Transfer to Hakone, Japan's volcanic city

• Take the bullet train from Tokyo to Odawara station. Be sure to purchase your Hakone 2-Pass at Odawara

• In the afternoon spend the day exploring the surrounding area

Climb to the top of Owakudani on the ropeway car

Try the popular volcanic black eggs. Rumor has it eating one egg adds 7 years to your life!

Day 5: Exploring Hakone

Spend the day exploring Hakone and all the wonders it has to offer

Visit the Modern Art Museum to explore the Picasso exhibit

• Be sure to soak your feet in the outdoor foot bath

• Continue the beautiful Venetian Art Museum

• In the afternoon take a hike through Sengokuhara tall grass

• In the evening head back to your ryokan to relax in the onsen

Day 6: Transfer to Kanazawa

Home of arts and historic culture...

• Be sure not to miss the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art

• Join a gold leaf workshop and create your own gold chopsticks (or other item)

Stroll in the Kenrokuen garden, one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens

Day 7: Shirakawago

Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage site is easily accessible from Takayama City

Stroll around Myozenji Temple & Museum, founded in 1748

Day 8: Next up, Kyoto!

Japan's former capital...

• Board the bullet train from Kanazawa to Kyoto

 Upon arrival, head to your hotel for check-in and some downtime

• In the evening, meet your guide for a tour through Gion streets of Kyoto, to enjoy food as the locals do

Day 9: Explore East Kyoto

• Take the local trains around Kyoto

• Start your day off at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, made famous by the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha"

• Later, meet your guide at a local temple for a tea ceremony experience

Day 10: Beautiful landscape in Arashiyama

Head to Arashiyama, the western part of Kyoto

Visit the famed bamboo forests

• last stop, Kinkakuji - the Golden Pavilion

Day 11: Sacred Forest of Mt. Koya

• Proceed to the sacred forest of Kumano Kodo and explore Mt. Koya

• Be sure to visit Okunoin Temple and Konpon Main hall
