The Vatican Gardens are a welcome relief after the crowded rooms of the museums ! A wonderful breath of fresh air in this huge park of 23 hectares (57 acres), of which 3 (7 acres )are real forest!
Lose yourself amongst the beds of multicoloured flowers, cool down by the fountains or wind back time to the 9th century: some of the building here date from that period.
These gardens were created during the Renaissance, and provide a cool escape from the stifling heat of the city ofRome. Equip yourself with the essentials: water, sun screen, sunglasses.... Or in the winter, a fleece, an umbrella and wellingtons!

Opt for a morning visit as the park is closed during some afternoons!
