Day 1: Welcome to Iceland!

Arrival in Reykjavik, the northernmost capital of the world...

• Upon arrival, pick up your rental car at Keflavik Airport and set off across the expansive lava field of Reykjanespeninsula towards Reykjavik

Explore this vibrant city and the range of museums and attractions it offers

Day 2: The Golden Circle - Natural Wonders

• Explore the Þingvellir National Park, the rift valley where the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia are drifting apart 

• Visit the unique geological area of Geysir and observe the frequent magnificent eruptions of Strokkur

• Feel the ground tremble beneath your feet as you close in on the Gullfoss waterfall

Optional activities: 

Snorkeling at Silfra Fissure (12+ years old)

• Visit the Efstidalur Farm for delicious local ice cream

Day 3: South Coast - Waterfalls & Black Sand Beach

• Head to the black sand beach of Reynisfjara

Day 4: Jökulsárlón - Glacier Lagoon & Hike

2-hour hike in Vatnajökull/Skaftafell National Park to the beautiful Svartifoss waterfall

• Head to the glistening Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon for iceberg & seal viewing

Optional activities:

Zodiac boat tour on the glacier lagoon next to the icebergs (10+ years old)

• Kayaking tour on the glacier lagoon (14+ years old)

• Snowmobiling tour on Vatnajokull glacier (2+ years old)

Day 5: On To The Eastfjords

• Visit the picturesque fishing village of Djúpivogur

• Cross the Öxi pass to Egilsstaðir and visit the village of Seyðisfjörður OR...

• Continue towards the wilderness of the Eastfjords. En-route, stop off at Fáskrúsfjörður, the Frenchest of Icelandic towns!

• Check out Hengifoss Waterfall or Skriðuklaustur Cultural Center


Day 6: North East - Dettifoss & Lake Mývatn

Cross the Northeastern mountain plateau of Iceland

• Stop at Möðrudalur, the most isolated farm in the whole country

• Drive up to Dettifoss Waterfall, Europe’s most power waterfall

• Explore the sulphur fields of Námaskarð, Krafla volcanic site, Hverfjall crater and Dimmuborgir lava formations

Optional activities:

• Admission to Mývatn Nature Baths

• Buggy tour through the lava fields around Lake Mývatn (6+ years old)

• Guided hiking and mountain biking tour around Lake Mývatn (all ages)

Day 7: North Iceland - Goðafoss 

• Head to Húsavík, a quaint fishing village famous for its whale watching tours

• Continue on to Akureyri, the capital of the North!

• Stop off at the spectacular Goðafoss waterfall, literally the “waterfall of the Gods”

Optional activities:

• Whale-watching, puffing-spotting, and sea angling tour from Husavik, Akureyri or Dalvik

Day 8: North West - Seals & Puffins

• Drive north to Tröllaskagi peninsula to the beautiful village of Siglufjörður

• Continue on your route to Hofsós village and its famous infinity pool

• Head westward in the direction of Hvammstangi village, famous for its seal and puffin populations

• Later, take a detour to Hvítserkur rock, whose legend tells that it's actually a petrified troll

Optional activities:

• Visit the KIDKA wool factory

• Wander around the seal museum

• Horse riding tour in Varmahlid (6+ years old)

• White water rafting and kayaking tour (12+ years old)

Day 9: Snæfellsnes Peninsula - Kirkjufell

• Kick off your discovery of the Snæfellsnes peninsula with a visit to Bjarnahöfn Farm and learn about the national rotten shark delicacy

• Head on to visit the iconic mount Kirkjufell

• Visit Vatnshellir, the 8,000 year old lava cave

• Stop at Hellnar and Arnarstapi to admire the cliffs and lava formations 

Optional activities:

• Whale-watching or puffing-spotting from Olafsvik 

Lava tubing tour at Arnarstapi (5+ years old)

• Sea-Angling tours from Stykkisholmur

• Sea-Kayaking tour around Mt. Kirkjufell (12+ years old)

Day 10: Reykjavík - Icelandic Goats & Viking Folklore

• On the way back to Reykjavik, visit Borgarfjörður, home of the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls

• Take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool at Húsafell village

• Stop at the Icelandic Goat Centre, where you can observe and pet the goats, lambs, chicks, cats, and dogs

• For a museum fix try the Borgarnes Settlement Centre

Optional activities:

• Ice caving excursion on Langjokull glacier

Day 11: Reykjavík - Final Day For Activities

Swim in Laugardalslaug Pool, or a visit to the zoo/family park Húsdýra og fjölskyldugarðurinn

Feed the birds at Tjörnin, the city pond

Optional activities:

• Whale-watching or puffing spotting from the harbor 

• Guided walking tour through the city centre

• Visit to one of the impressive local museums

Day 12: Reykjavík - Departure For Flight Home

• Enjoy a last breakfast in your hotel 

Drop off your rental at Keflavik International Airport
