The Saronic Gulf, also called the gulf of Aegina, is in a privileged spot: between the port of Piraeus and the airport of Eleftherios Venizelos. This Mediterranean gem is easy to get to.

My suggestion:
Don't rush, life is much slower here.
My review

The Saronic Gulf is just a short and pleasant ferry or boat ride away from the port of Piraeus in Athens , and here you will find the islands of Hydra, Poros and Spetses. My favourite island is Hydra, with its bohemian atmosphere and a style all of its own. For example, motorised vehicles are banned (with the exception of refuse lorries and a few vans working for the council). Transport options are limited: water taxis, donkeys or mules and bicycles.

Do as I did and ignore the negative comments about the Saronic Gulf, many Greeks reproach them for not have the "island" spirit, particularly because they are so close to the Greek mainland: these islands are just a continuation of the mainland. I loved them, each island has something special and although they are a little touristy they have remained authentic.
