Today you will visit the beautiful city of Potsdam during a 8 hour tour! Your guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel lobby. Potsdam is best known for its magnificent palaces and parks (UNESCO World heritage sites) that date back to its time as the former royal seat of Prussia. During the tour you will see the highlights of this city including the Glienicke Bridge. This bridge connects Potsdam and Berlin and is the place where East and West exchanged secret agents and spies during the Cold War. Your next stop is Cecilienhof Palace, which was the last castle built by the Hohenzollern dynasty. The Potsdam Conference took place there in 1945, at which the four victorious powers decided to divide Berlin and Germany.
Afterwards you are going to visit the Dutch Quarter and the famous Nauener and Brandenburg Gates. Afterwards you continue to the famous Palace Sanssouci. No other castle is more closely associated with Frederick the Great than Sanssouci. It was his summer residence and the name Sanssouci – “without worries” – should be understood as the striving and leitmotif of the king. There the king preferred to surround himself with his closest friends, the intellectual elite of his court and enlightened scientists and writers from Italy and France. Admission to castles is included.
Spend your day visiting one of Berlin’s famous museums on Museum Island. It is a magnificent work of art right in the heart of Berlin - an outstanding ensemble of five world-famous museums. Apart for the legendary bust of the Egyptian queen Nefertiti, the most renowned and important cultural exhibits on show include the breathtaking Pergamon Altar and the stunning Ishtar Gate. In 1999, the Museum Island complex was inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage. For lunch we recommend trying a typical Berlin “Currywurst” - it is sold in almost every snack bar and is a sausage with a special ketchup-curry sauce which recipe is the best hidden secret.
Meet your private guide at the starting point of the tour. Discover the lifestyle of Berlin in the pulsating & urban soul of the districts Kreuzberg and Neukölln. The two districts have a unique charm which combines alternative, chic and hip styles with punk roots and the current pulsating techno scene. “Kreuzkölln“, as the locals call it, is home to world famous graffiti and the largest Turkish community outside of Turkey. During this tour, you will get to know the culinary highlights of the districts by tasting 6 different dishes in different restaurants, bars and cafés. Transfer to / from food tour is not included.
Today you discover the Berlin wall by bike and learn that it was far more than just a wall - but also a symbol of the misery, and the most visible sign of the struggle between two systems. For almost 30 years, this 160-kilometer-long, so-called “death strip” cut through the city and the lives of its people. Few families remained untouched by the division of the city; parents separated from their children, lovers who wound up on the “wrong” side of the Berlin Wall. Along the 15 kilometers between Bornholmer Straße and the government district, the bike tour follows the obvious as well as the hidden remnants of the “Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart”. The Berlin Wall bike tour takes you to border checkpoints and you will also visit the official Berlin Wall Memorial Museum area on Bernauer Straße where the last remaining, totally intact, portion of the Berlin Wall and a guard tower can be seen. Transfer to / from starting point of bike tour is not included
After checking out of the hotel you will be picked up by your driver who will bring you the airport in Berlin.
