It was the smallest palace of the mad King Ludwig II of Bavaria, Linderhof and a royal palace constructed between 1874 and 1878.

My suggestion:
It is interesting to compare the 'modesty' of Linderhof with the narcissistic and imposing structure of Neuschwanstein Castle , which as the crow flies is about 10 miles from Linderhof, and around 30 miles away by car.
My review

Compared with the absolutely mad construction plan of Neuschwanstein Castle you can say that Linderhof Palace is surprisingly subtle ! A beautiful house in the purest classical style, beautiful gardens embellished by magnificent fountains which are clearly influenced by the Palace of Versailles. In its entirety the house is of relatively modest dimensions, yet, despite the eccentricities of King Ludwig II, Linderhof was his favourite.

It should be pointed out that this idea of modesty, modesty, modesty is nevertheless still apparent, even though the construction plan arranged for an imposing hall of mirrors, as a reference to the Sun King, as well as a crystal chandelier which is more than 500 kg to be placed in the King's private bathroom!

In addition to the beauty of the palace, I was completely captivated by its setting which is in the middle of nowhere, set in the heart of a natural mountainous region. This only enhances the beauty of the palace and also the oddity of discovering this architectural wonder at the very end of a tiny country road ...
