Trip review

The East Anglian wayfarers
The East Anglian wayfarers
loved their trip to Georgia

We had wanted to visit Georgia after hearing about it from our nephew and then I researched it. At that point I contacted Khatuna and between us we agreed 2 two day itineries with her providing some extra suggestions which were great. We had numerous emails and she was very patient dealing with all my queries! We spent 3 days in Tbilisi on our own which was our choice and worked well. Highlights were Gergeti, Davit Gareja ( quite a climb which we managed, although I hadn't realised the walk along the ridge where the caves were would have quite such a drop and tested my dislike of heights - Georgio was very encouraging and I was very glad to have done it), the home stay and lunch at the fruit farm which my husband as a fruit enthusiast loved. We enjoyed finding out so much about the country from Georgio.

Best parts:
It was excellent and well organised by Khatuna. Georgio, our guide was great - he was very informative and good company and we learnt a lot about Georgia, the people, history, geo politics, customs etc Nico, our driver, was also very good and felt quite safe! They couldn't have been more helpful. The road from Gudauri to Kazbegi was blocked by snow the evening we arrived and not opened until after midday the following day. However, Georgio was determined that we would get through despite it having put us far behind schedule for the day. Instead, they took us to a cable car for the morning, which we took to the top of the mountains and had a coffee, and then we eventually got through to Kazbegi after midday. This meant they both got back to Tbilisi 3/4 hours later that evening than expected. It was greatly appreciated by us as the hike to Gergeti was one of the highlights of the trip. Georgia is very beautiful and the people very friendly - we highly recommend it.
