You will then continue on to the magnificent “Sainte Chapelle”, with its unique 13th-century stained-glass windows, and to the Notre-Dame Cathedral: a masterpiece of Gothic Art (with inside guided visit).

After a short break, you will cross the Pont Rouge to discover Île Saint-Louis, its picturesque shops and art galleries and impressive 17th-century mansions which used to be homes to many famous people such as Wagner, Liszt, Chopin, Baudelaire, Marie Curie, and Elena Rubinstein.

The tour ends on Rue St Louis en l’Ile with a tasting of ”the best ice cream in Paris”: Berthillon!

Meeting point is on Île de la Cité.

Duration: 3 hours.

Suggestion: visit the Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter is one of Paris' best-known areas, housing as it does the famous Sorbonne University. It was at the center of the Roman city Lutetia, which gave birth to the international metropolis we know today. Because it is the stamping ground of students and professors there are many bookshops and a lively intellectual scene. The Paris Latin Quarter is the historic student district, the one that hosted in the Middle Ages the most famous universities of the entire kingdom of France. During the disturbances of May 1968, the quarter formed the center of the students’ protest.

Opposite the Sorbonne is the Hôtel de Cluny which houses the Museum of the Middle Ages with the famous tapestry “The Lady with a Unicorn”. Just a few meters away are the Gallo-Roman baths, which date from the first to the third centuries. At the summit of Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, the Panthéon combines past and modernity: if it hosts for eternity the great names of the Republic, its forecourt has become the preferred meeting place for student youth, close to the Luxembourg Garden. It is also in this garden that we can see students revise their lessons in the grass when the sunny days come back. At Place Saint-Michel, there is a monumental fountain which represents Saint Michel striking down the Devil.

By day and by night, this is one of the liveliest districts of Paris with its booksellers along the embankments, its historic little streets, and its grand houses which still retain all their former glories. Tourists like to walk around to discover the true Paris of Parisians. It is also an opportunity for them to eat in the many bars and restaurants in the area. Among its famous cafés is Les Deux Magots, founded in 1812 and where Picasso, Prévert, Hemingway, and Simone de Beauvoir liked to gather. Filmmakers also appreciate this place and regularly put their cameras on it: the Latin Quarter is one of Paris' must-see filming locations.

Day 4: 3-hour private walking food tour in Le Marais district

You like both history and food? This tour is designed specifically for you!

Meet up with your guide in the beautiful historical Marais district which has become one of the trendiest areas of Paris. The tour will combine both historical facts and many stops in the top food stores that make the reputation of this area. Whether you have a sweet tooth or you prefer savory foods, this tour will most definitely fulfill your taste buds.

Find out why French bread is so good, learn about chocolate, macarons, and eclairs. Admire the display of seasonal fruits and vegetable. Discover the Jewish quarter and the many Yiddish treats. Finish off in a typical little bistro to share a plate of cheese and charcuterie with a nice glass of wine!

Meeting point is in Le Marais district.

Duration: 3 hours.

Suggestion: visit the Centre Pompidou

In the heart of Paris, among the old capital buildings, sits an imposing building with lifts and escalators, wrapped in colored tubes. The construction was intentionally imagined by architects Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano to be designed with industrial references in mind.

Initially, the building shocked the public when it was inaugurated in 1977, but it has since become one of the most emblematic designs in France. Over the years, the Centre Pompidou has built a strong reputation in the world of modern and contemporary art with an interdisciplinary dimension.

Paintings from masters like Picasso, Miro or Warhol are now part of the permanent collection. With over thirty major art exhibitions a year, a new contemporary creation festival, several cinematic cycles, concerts, performances and dance, the Centre Pompidou has something for everyone.

Children are not forgotten either, with exhibitions and workshops especially created for them in the "Galerie des Enfants" (Children's Gallery). Students will also find a wealth of information in the library and bookshop located in the Centre. Discover the Printemps Design Shop on the mezzanine and take home an original gift, then head upstairs to the restaurant, Georges, for a snack and an incredible view of Paris.
