Day 1: Welcome To Addis Abeba

Arrival at the airport and ground transfer to the hotel. In order to have the best view of the city, your guide will take you on Entoto Hill, culminating at 10,500 ft (3200 m).  Immerse yourself in this incredible city by visiting the Mercato, at the heart of the capital city. The largest open-air market in Africa will surely make you live a genuine Ethiopian experience. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 2: Lakes Of The Great Rift Valley

Departure for the south of the country by the Great lakes route. 40 million years ago, this incredible geologic depression also called 'Cradle of Humanity' started to emerge from tectonic activity. The Great Rift valley hosts some of the oldest, largest and deepest lakes in the world. Discover the Langano lake and its surprising wildlife, especially bird species.

Afternoon arrival in Awassa, one of the most peaceful cities in Ethiopia. Board a boat for a tour of Awassa lake. In this protected sanctuary, you will have the chance to appreciate the rich wildlife: hippopotamus, colobus monkeys, and endemic bird species. In the evening, arrival at the hotel, dinner in town, night at the hotel.

Day 3: Meet The Small-Scale Coffee Producers

After an early visit to the Awassa fish market, drive to the cooperatives settled in the province of Yirgalem. In the heart of the green and lush region of Sidamo, you will be greeted on their lands and will discover the production and harvesting of coffee. They will open you the doors of their cooperative, tell you about its history and introduce you to this innovative social, ecologic and economic model. Discover the entire production process of the world-renowned Moka coffee; the small-scale farmers, who only produce organic and fair-trade certified coffee, will explain the importance of this commitment for sustainable agriculture, both for earth and for human-kind.

After a picnic, you will be welcomed to Tilahum’s place, a small-scale producer who will take you on a tour of his farm, where plants are grown based on the principles of agroecology, and you will discover how nature is a fragile and precise balance. Visit a Toukoul, the traditional hut of Sidama, and take the time to properly meet Tilahum and his family, by drinking ...a cup of coffee! Catch the passion in the eyes of Tilahum when he speaks about his farming work and his life in the heart of Sidama’s hills. In the evening, arrival at the lodge, dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 4: On The Coffee Route

Wake up immersed in nature and get ready to walk through a preserved Ethiopia. With your guide and a local partner, cross typical Sidama villages and discover an incredible fauna and flora. Meet the local populations whilst following the coffee route. Packed lunch in the shadow of trees. Today is dedicated to relaxation, discoveries and encounters with local population, coffee producers and verdant nature. Back at your accommodation, enjoy the “coffee ceremony” and, before dinner, go to see... the hyenas’ ceremony! Dinner and night at the eco lodge.

Day 5: From The Coffee Plants To The Highlands

Spend the morning with another coffee farmer and his family and take the road in direction of Arba Minch. In the local Amhrarique language, Arba Minch means 'forty-springs city'.

This city is perched on a headland and offers one of the most incredible views of all Ethiopia, overlooking the plains of Nechisar National Park and the two largest lakes of the Great Rift valley, the Abaya and Chamo lakes. The hotel is reached by the end of the afternoon. Dinner and night at Arba Minch, at the hotel.

Day 6: Nechisar National Park And Chamo Lake

Leave to Gughe mounts where you will meet the Dorze people. Don’t be afraid, for those formerly warriors are now weavers and farmers. Their village is made up with bamboo huts that can reach 32ft (10m). Then embark on a boat for an excursion on the Chamo lake. Immersed in the splendours of the wilderness, meet  an impressive population of crocodiles and hippopotamuses, as well as big birds such as the white pelican, storks, spatulas, eagles and ibises.

Finish your day in the heart of the Nechisar (Amharic for “white grass”) National Park.. This ancestral savannah used to be the territory of lions, cheetahs and leopards. It is now a sanctuary for more than 200 bird species, as well as zebras, gazelles, antelopes, oryxes and dik-diks. Return to the hotel by the end of the afternoon. Dinner and night at Arba Minch, at the hotel.

Day 7: From Shashemene To Wondo Genet

Morning departure to the Ziway Lake. On your journey, go through the city of Shashamene, famous for being “the city of Rastafari”, created by Jamaicans who then believed Ethiopia was the "Promised Land" and the Emperor Haile Selassie the incarnation of God. Nowadays, the Rastafari community is now a minority in Shashemene.

After lunch at Wondo Genet hot springs, arrive at the Ziway lake in the afternoon. It is told that the Arkl of Covenant was hidden in one of its islands, Tullu Guddu. Arrival at the hotel by the end of the afternoon. Diner and night.

Day 8: Back To Addis Abeba!

Back to Addis Abeba by the southern route. After a lunch, visit if you wish the ECF. Built more than 10 years ago, it is the largest NGO in Ethiopia founded by Anna Getaneh. It is a community integrated, holistic development institution for hundreds of disadvantaged children and youth near the village of Aleltu.

This visit will give you another look on the country, updated and complete. At the end of the day, enjoy a dinner with a show of traditional Ethiopian music and dances. In the evening, you will be escorted to the airport, according to your flight schedule.
