When to go
It is possible to travel to Ecuador year round. It all depends on what you want to do there. The climate in the Amazon is obviously not the same as on the coast or in the Andes.Entry requirements
British nationals only need a passport that is valid for 6 months from the date of entry for a trip to Ecuador lasting less than 3 months. If you are planning to stay longer, a visa is necessary.Health advise
There is no obligatory vaccination. However, because of the local situation, yellow fever, typhoid and hepatitis A vaccinations are highly recommended. Provide for a treatment against malaria for any stay in the Amazon and against mountain sickness for the Andes.Airline tickets
A return ticket for Quito costs between €600 and €1300. It all depends on the airline, date of travel and of the date of purchase of the ticket.Time difference
-6 hr in summer and -5 hr in winter. When it is 12 p.m. in London, it is 6 or 7 a.m. in Quito depending on the season.Language
Spanish is the official language and spoken by all the inhabitants. Some Indians speak a sort of Quechua and English is often considered to be the language of the gringos.Relevant contacts
