Day 1: Zagreb arrival

Welcome to Croatia! Upon arrival at Zagreb airport, meet your private transfer to your hotel. Discover Zagreb simply by walking through its bustling downtown streets and compact medieval core. Enjoy a funicular ride to the elegant upper town, bargain for fruit in the open-air market, or enjoy coffee and ice cream in a café. Zagreb will welcome you with its lovely fountains, green parks, blooming flowers and artisans performing on every street corner. Enjoy a welcome dinner in one of Zagreb’s best National restaurants with authentic local food. (D)


Day 2: Zagreb foodie tour - Motovun hilltop town-Brtonigla (Istria)

Meet your local guide for a private Zagreb street food tasting & sightseeing tour: visit Dolac Fruit & Grocery Market, taste local snacks as you go: štrukli cheese pastry; cottage cheese & cream; local-style sausages; taste artisan beers brewed in Zagreb or local wines in a winery. Visit Zagreb’s Cathedral, the Stone gate, St. Mark’s church, the Upper town, Flower market square, the Central Square, and Tkalcićeva Street with its numerous charming cafés and restaurants.

In the afternoon, we’ll have the car for you delivered to your hotel. Head out to Istrian peninsula. It takes approximately 3 hours to reach the hilltop town of Motovun; famous for its medieval walls built in 12th century for protection against pirates. It takes only 15 minutes to circumnavigate the town walls, offering spectacular views of the surrounding vineyards and Motovun forest: home of black and white truffles. Short drive to your hotel in Brtonigla, the famous Istrian gourmet Mecca; enjoy a gourmet dinner of fabulous local delicacies. (B,D)


Day 3: Brtonigla-Rovinj-Cheese & dairy farm & tasting-Brtonigla

Istria is an amazing peninsula of fabulous interior medieval hilltop towns, charming coastal fishing ports and cities. It takes just a short drive to reach the fisherman city of Rovinj situated on a peninsula. Walk through a maze of its narrow, cobbled streets, art galleries and charming restaurants. In the afternoon, drive to Žminj village to visit a remarkable dairy farm and taste fabulous sheep’s, goat’s & cow’s cheese. Return to Brtonigla where you have bicycles at disposal to enjoy a ride through this picturesque area. Alternatively, you could visit a nearby coastal city of Poreč, famous for its Euphrasian Basilica, listed on the UNESCO list of the world’s cultural heritage sites. Hotel accommodation for the night. Day 4: Brtonigla - Grožnjan hilltop town - Wine Tasting - Truffle hunt presentation - Opatija Riviera

Istria is home to black & white truffles, vast vineyards, green pastures, Istrian prosciutto ham, homemade pasta and abundant Mediterranean seafood. Head out to Grožnjan, a hilltop medieval town which was deserted after WWII, until the Yugoslavian government decided to invite artists and establish an artist colony there. Nowadays there are numerous galleries, art, music & lifestyle festivals to visit. Continue the trip to a remarkable vineyard, renowned for the quality and originality of their wines. In the afternoon, visit a local family of several generations of truffle hunters. Enjoy a private truffle hunt experience with the help of specially trained dogs. Taste their homemade truffle produce and enjoy homemade pasta dishes in a nearby agricultural-tourism site. Leave the Istrian peninsula; a one-hour drive along the scenic road will lead you to the Opatija Riviera where you will spend the night . (B,L)


Day 5: Opatija - Nin - Zadar

Depart Opatija for the village of Nin. This tiny village used to be the center of medieval Croatia, with first Croatian kings had been crowned. Nin also keeps another secret, one of oldest European salinas still in use, where salt is still farmed as it was 2,5 millennia ago. Taste their finest fleur de sel, learn how it is different from regular sea salt, how to use it and why is it better for your health. After the short drive, reach the city of Zadar. It used to be a roman town and later one of many venetian ports along the Eastern Adriatic. We suggest you visit the Museum of Antic Glass with an unbelievable collection of fragile artefacts from Greek & Roman times, and demonstration how glass used to be blown at the time. Make sure to visit the Sea Organ, an art installation where an organ built into the seashore is played by a rhythmic movement of sea waves. This is the place to enjoy a sunset, since after dark, another art installation called ‘Greeting to the Sun’ will start emitting colorful lights, depending on colors & amount of light recorded during the day. Your hotel, Bastion, is built within the old city walls; it is a boutique hotel offering finest food. Enjoy seafood dinner in one of finest Croatian seafood restaurants. (B,D)


Day 6: Zadar - Trogir - Split countryside: spend the day with locals

We’ll drive towards Split countryside, with a short stop to visit Trogir. This city is listed on UNESCO World Heritage list for its masterpieces of stone architecture. Visit the Cathedral with 12th century doorway, the town square and loggia, and the coastal promenade. Continue the drive to Split countryside to a small remote village of several houses in a beautiful natural setting surrounded with pine trees, vineyards and olive groves. Meet a local family who will host you for the day. This is a non-commercial experience offered exclusively by GoAndiamo, offered only on several occasions per year. The mother is a local champion in Soparnik – local pastry preparation. Master the skill yourself and bake it under an iron bell covered with hot ash. Other homemade delicacies will be served: their homemade smoked prosciutto, sardines in olive oil, and roasted meat with vegetables from their organic garden. Walk in the area and learn about its past and present. This is the best experience possible for getting to know Croatian locals and their customs. Drive to Split. Your boutique hotel is in the heart of the city within the pedestrian zone, next to the Roman Emperor's villa. Return the car to the city centre. (B,D)


Day 7: Split

Split is another town on the UNESCO World Heritage list where archaeological and cultural monuments are located inside and outside Diocletian’s Palace walls. Meet your local guide for a private foodie city tour of Split. Visit the open grocery market, fish market, one of the oldest pubs, which is a local secret and taste various courses in several different restaurants. You will see Prokurative Square, medieval palaces, Jupiter’s temple, and the Cathedral that once used to be home to Emperor Diocletian’s tomb. In the afternoon we suggest you visit Mestrović gallery which is located in a beautiful palace surrounded by lush garden, and is home to the work of famous 20th century Croatian artists. Enjoy an evening walk through the maze of narrow cobbled streets to get the beat of the city’s rhythm. (B)


Day 8: Split - Pelješac peninsula wine tour - Dubrovnik

With Roman saltpans still being used and oysters farmed in brackish waters of Ston bay, Pelješac peninsula is the destination of dreams for history and gastronomy lovers. Yet, the medieval walls & ramparts here also guard one of most important wine regions of Croatia. Steep terrain with white rocky terroir and the reflections from the sea surface surround vineyards with specific triple insolation. Local grapes of the Plavac Mali variety produce full bodied, strong and flavorful reds that are high both in alcohol and tannins, and sometimes of robust character. Our host Mario Bartulović who is a wine producer himself, will unravel secrets of the Adriatic’s longest peninsula. Taste fresh out of the sea oysters on a boat trip to the oyster farm, visit several vineyards, all with different approaches to winemaking, from a traditional to a modern one, taste their wines and find a perfect match to your own tastes. Cool off in the shade of an old cellar, enjoying a fine slow-cooked, four course meal. In the late afternoon we will arrive at the most spectacular of Adriatic medieval cities, the former Republic of Ragusa - Dubrovnik, where you will spend the night in a hotel. (B,L)


Day 9: Dubrovnik city tour

Escape the crowds in the maze of the Old Town’s cobbled streets and listen to intriguing stories of life within the ancient walls. Our guide will take you on a private walking tour and unravel Dubrovnik’s secrets, talk about people’s daily lives, local customs and culinary tradition. You’ll see the main street; Stradun, the city gates, old harbor, steep & narrow cobblestone streets, churches, squares & palaces. In the afternoon, drive to Konavle region where a local family will be waiting for you. Our cooking class introduces you to the Mediterranean flavors of southern Dalmatia and its traditional hinterland village lifestyle. Learn how to prepare homemade food the same way as Croatian ancestors did centuries ago. Pick the fresh vegetables for your cooking class straight from the adjacent garden! Prepare your meal over the open fire, prepare the fresh dough, taste some olive oil and blend it in rural ambience to get the true feeling of the Dubrovnik countryside. This activity is intended to present local ambience and authentic feeling of a life in a traditional, pre-industrial era village. Return to Dubrovnik in the late afternoon/evening. (B,D)


Day 10: Dubrovnik departure

After breakfast, visit the medieval Old city walls that encircle the historical city, which are a total of 1,5 miles in length. The walls offer spectacular views over the orange terracotta rooftops and blue Adriatic Sea peppered with the nearby archipelago. Drive to Dubrovnik airport and drop the car off. Check in to your flight. (B)
