Overall, it was a great trip, and we feel like we got to know and experience the best of Australia. Besides the snafu's mentioned above, all the transfers went smoothly, and all of the tours/excursions were as described. We were shocked at how long it took us to recover from jetlag, so we were glad to have had so many days in Sydney before setting out on the rest of the journey.
Getting to see the wildlife
Uluru--we wished we had stayed 3 nights instead of 2 so we could have walked around the base of Uluru and gone to more of the presentations by the resort
Festival of Lights Dinner at Uluru
Rainforest excursion
Great Barrier Reef snorkeling
Sydney Opera House tour
Riverfire dinner at Patina in Brisbane
Bus/coach tour on Kangaroo Island. Would have preferred a small private tour where we could have stayed as long as we liked at varioius places. The lodging was adequate on Kangaroo Island, but because we didn't have dinner vouchers either night, the first night we were dropped in town at night alone with no where to eat (the restaurant most visitors used was full and would not accept us). Finally we found another couple in the same situation and walked with them a few blocks to another restaurant. On the 2nd night, the hotel manager drove us to a restaurant herself and picked us up later. Also, there was a problem with the airport transfer from hotel. We thought the bus company was coming for us, but they did not. Apparently, the transfer was with a private company, but we didn't know which one it was. The driver came for another passenger and left us. Then, the hotel manager called the company and found out we were supposed to have ridden with him. He had to drive back to the hotel to get us and we barely made our flight.
We were not fond of the menu offerings in most restaurants, regardless of price. We were surprised to find few vegetables except potatoes. We eat mostly vegetables and some meat, so it was challenging.
