There are four of Raphael's Rooms in total. They have this title, not because Raphaël lived there, but because he was in charge of all the decoration! The work lasted from 1508 to 1524. The order was placed as, it's said, Pope Julius II wanted his living space to outdo that of his predecessor and "rival", Alexander VI, who himself had ordered the paintings in the Borgia Apartments!
The four rooms have names: The Room of Constantine, that of Heliodorus, Room of the Segnatura and finally that of the Fire in the Borgo. With these names, you can find the titles of the frescoes and so fully appreciate the meaning. It's advice which you can apply everywhereduring your trip to the Vatican!
One of the known representations is "The feminine allegory of Justice". It can be found on the ceiling of the Room of the Segnatura.
Everywhere you look, there's a painting, a fresco... And personally, I love to know the history being shown and told to me through these paintings! It takes you to another time, another era, the time of the visit... A true pleasure!
