After arriving in Pattada, during my trip to Sardinia, I strolled through the often steep streets of the village. I came across the "Museum of the Knife” in the historical centre and decided to enter. The Pattada knife is a locking knife manufactured with a blade of Swedish steel and a handle made of horn or wood.
I watched the craftsman as he was making knives and took the time to chat with him. He spontaneously showed me his work and gave me some very useful explanations as to the origin and the manufacturing process. Some are very expensive and highly sought after.
I then visited the museum which contains some rare pieces from very different periods. I discovered the evolution of this tool that is so familiar to man thanks to all the objects on show. A part of the museum is devoted to knives from around the world, which is also very interesting. You can see knives that have been used for generations by the different peoples of Asia, America or Europe.
I was enchanted by my visit, all the more so because it was commented upon by people who are absolutely passionate about their trade and who are keen to share their knowledge.
