We made a stopover in Trapani during our stay in Sicily. It was in winter, but we took advantage of some fine weather to walk along the cliffs as far as San Vito le Capo. We observed many species of birds in the Zingaro nature reserve and admired the beaches nestled in small coves, which were deserted at that time of year.
We also visited the salt works, because Trapani is above all famous as a port for the transit of salt. The salt was originally extracted with the aid of windmills, a few of which remain, much to the delight of tourists.
We then visited the historic centre and saw some very nice buildings with different styles and dating to different periods.
